Craig Newmark, the 71-year-old retired founding father of Craigslist, has 4 focus areas for philanthropy: army households and vets, cybersecurity, journalism, and pigeon rescue.
On Wednesday, he pledged $100 million to assist U.S. cybersecurity, bringing his whole giving and pledges to $400 million since 2015.

In accordance with the Wall Road Journal, Newmark has already dedicated over 20% of the $100 million pledge to organizations and initiatives round cybersecurity. Widespread Sense Media, for instance, acquired $2 million to assist efforts like a cybersecurity consciousness marketing campaign for fogeys and lecturers.

Newmark was price $1.3 billion in 2020 and pledged to provide away nearly all his wealth to charitable causes in December 2022. He instructed the Journal that his giving was impressed by the Judaic idea of tikkun olam, Hebrew for “repairing the world.”
